Jammu, Mar 31 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday said petrol, diesel and LPG stocks are adequate, with 3,442 inspections and raids conducted since March 17 to curb hoarding and black marketing. Replying to a Calling Attention Motion in the Legislative Assembly, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Satish Sharma as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said 252 goods/articles have been seized, 2,443 complaints redressed and FIRs lodged against violators. He said the earlier spike in consumption was due to panic buying triggered by geopolitical tensions, but asserted that there are currently no reports of panic buying or rumours, with all communication channels being actively monitored. “As per daily reports from Oil Marketing Companies, availability of petrol, diesel and LPG is adequate across J&K,” he said, urging the public to ignore rumours as supply remains stable. The Minister said Divisional and District Control Rooms are functional, while District Level Committees headed by Deputy Commissioners are monitoring stock positions at outlets and depots on a daily basis. He added that real-time monitoring of petroleum products, including LPG, MS, HSD and CNG, is being carried out from outlet to bulk level in coordination with Oil Marketing Companies to ensure uninterrupted supply. To counter misinformation he said, the government conducted 36 media interactions, briefings and social media engagements between March 15 and 24, along with on-ground outreach. Sharma said regular review meetings, surprise inspections and strict enforcement measures are in place, warning of stringent action including fines, penalties and FIRs against hoarders and black marketers—(KNO)
